My newest project is a Winnie the Pooh mural. I will post photos of the work in progress. Day 1 was spent painting clouds on the ceiling and tracing out all the characters.
Below is day 2 & 3. This is an area of about 3 ft by 4 ft.
Here is the completed mural (day 4). I will be adding bees and such once I finish the rest of the room.
Day 4 - Starting on the rest of the characters...
Day 5 - Adding more details. Finished Pooh & Piglet. Heffalump & Roo are almost done.
Day 6 & 7 - Characters finished & tree started. All that is left is to finish the tree and add flowers.
You did a fantastic job on this nursery!! Wow! It's so cute, very well painted, and designed wonderfully.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amy!!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog because i was looking for winnie the pooh nursery ideas and i love this. Your very talented. Would you be able to give me some tips on what kind of paint you used for the murals? did you use regular paint (ex: behr) or did you use acrylic? Thanks for much for your help!
ReplyDeleteKeep on painting!
Thank you! I used acrylics mixed with a little varnish. You could also use latex house paint. I use it for larger areas like sky but for this mural I needed tight control and lots of different colors so I used my acrylics. Water-based latex paints can be mixed with acrylics too. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great advise. We just finished painting the nursery this week and hope to start the murals in the next couple of weeks. I didn't realize the acrylics could be mixed with varnish or with latex paints. Good to know. thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the beginning stages of planning a wall painting of pooh, tigger, eyeore and piglet as a group. Would you please, please give me the names of the acrylic paint colors you used for each character's main color? It would help me so much and I would appreciate it more than you can imagine!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could tell you the colors exactly, but I actually had to mix my own colors for most of the characters. I printed out a picture that had all the characters on it and then painted swatches on the sheet to try to find the right colors. I used Amsterdam and Liquitex acrylics for most of it. Here are the colors from my notes:
ReplyDeleteTigger: Mix of Vat Orange, Naples Yellow Deep & Yellow Ochre. Yellow Titanate on Belly.
Pooh: Naples Yellow Deep. Cadmium Red Medium for shirt.
Piglet: Light Rose & Quin. Rose on belly
Eyeore: Greyish Blue. Greyish Blue plus Sky Blue for belly. Lt. Portrait Pink on nose. Diaz. Purple plus Lt. Portrait Pink for inside ears.
Roo: Burnt Umber & Naples Yellow Deep
Tree: Olive Green Deep
I didn't make notes on Rabbit or Elephant. I think Rabbit was the same Yellow Titanate as on Tigger. A lot of the mixes especially for shading and highlights were just painted on the spot from the colors I used for mixes. I think I used Burnt Sienna for shading on pooh & tigger. Eyeore I think I used a dark blue.
Hope that helps. Good luck with the mural!
